European Committee of the Regions - 7th virtual ENVE Commission meeting

 7th virtual ENVE Commission meeting

Glasgow is the most important climate change summit since the Paris conference of 2015. The technologies, standards and policies required to achieve the higher 2030 targets can provide the EU with a competitive advantage in a global race to the future. The leadership shown by the EU on ambition has helped support and drive global action. The leadership the EU shows on delivery will be key to what comes next both at home and globally – and to the success of the critical COP26.

7th virtual ENVE Commission meeting

As the co-author of the Motion for a Resolution on behalf of The European Parliament on Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, I would like to underline that our final goal is to significantly increase the production for sustainable chemicals by design. The Strategy defines a set of regulatory and non-regulatory measures to increase and boost industrial innovations and production. Criteria on ‘safe and sustainable by design' chemicals will be defined and used for public and private investments. The Strategy describes incentives to support research, development and the market uptake of new chemicals, and the overall green transition of the production processes in industries producing and using chemicals.
